05/ 28/ 04 Václav and Dagmar Havel wish all the best to CowParade Prague 2004

/PRAGUE, 28. 5. 2004/ CowParade Prague 2004, an open air exhibition and a charitable happening is approaching its ceremonial opening. Beginning June 1, the 201 already finished cows, that were first showcased yesterday at the Night of the Cows, will be displayed in the streets of Prague.

The inauguration of the cows took place in a ČKD ex-factory building in Karlín. Around 1700 guests, sponsors and the authors of the cows, showed up at this event which was hosted by Marek Vašut. Among the authors of the cows were Bořek Šípek, Jan Saudek, Dita Štěpánová, Osmany Laffita and many others. Many celebrities and respected figures attended the evening, among them were Leona Machálková, Jiří Bartoška, Václav Marhoul, Michal Žantovský and others. Also the former President of the Czech Republic, Václav Havel and his spouse came to wish the cows the best of luck.

In the course of the inauguration evening an SMS vote of The Best Cow took place and the winner is "Cow in the crowd", created by Alexandra Švolíková and sponsored by Šamonil, s.r.o. Osmany Laffita, the famous fashion designer, won a second place with his creation Zsa Zsa Cowbor cow.

Basic information about the project:

CowParade Prague 2004 is an international project that began in 1998 in Zurich. Since then it has travelled through 18 cities around the world, like for example Chicago, New York, Sydney, Houston, London or Brussels.

In Czech Republic the project takes place in cooperation with Eurotel Praha, spol. s r. o. under the auspices of the Prague City Hall and the municipality of Prague 1. Media partners of CowParade Prague 2004 are the PRIMA Television, MF Dnes daily and iDNES, internet daily of MF Dnes. Partners of the event are OTEC Company and the auction house Sotheby's.

Live size fiber glass cows that are displayed in the streets of the center of Prague are the works of art of many famous as well as debuting artists. Sponsors of the cows were able to choose the artists that would design the cows and the names of the cows. The exhibition that opened today will continue until September 30.

The premier auction house Sotheby's will auction 35 cows from the herd. The auction is scheduled on October this year and the beneficiaries will be three NGO's: Children's Oncology foundation KRTEK (the Mole), Civic Association Zdravotní Klaun (The Clown Care) and Civic Association Dědina.
