06/ 01/ 04 CowParade Prague 2004 kicks off
/PRAGUE 1. 6. 2004/ CowParade Prague 2004, an open air exhibition and a charitable happening, has just kicked off. Beginning today, 204 life size cows will be grazing in the streets of Prague and you will be able to see them in the city center until the end of September.
Together with the City's Mayor, Pavel Bém, who cut the ribbon at the ceremonial opening and officially inaugurated the Cow Parade, there were also Serge Borenstein and Bessel Kok, who initiated the project and Terrence Valeski, president and general manager of Eurotel Praha, spol. s r. o. a co-organizer of the project. The opening took place today at 1 p.m. in front of the Prague City Hall.
Now, you can run into variously designed and colored cows in the city center. Their unique designs include a cow covered in ten haller coins or a cow with openings on her sides which let you check what is in her belly, or a cow resembling a siren.
CowParade Prague 2004 caught the interest of 351 authors who submitted a total of 805 draft designs. Among those who participated on the project were: Jan Saudek, Dita ©tìpánová, Lela Geislerová, Jiøí David, Aòa Gaislerová, Tomá¹ Císaøovský, Jiøí Slíva, Tereza Talichová, students of the secondary comprehensive school Gymnázium Jana Nerudy in Prague, children from the mental home Jedlièkùv ústav and the school for the handicapped in Prague and also Jiøí Anderle, Jiøí David, Sára Saudková, Osmany Laffita, Dara Rolins & Tomínno Kelemen, Marek Va¹ut, Boøek ©ípek and others.
The cows were sponsored by companies of all sizes from various fields and also by individuals.
Terrence Valeski, general manager of Eurotel Praha said: 'We are happy we could participate on this unique project. I believe that this original art exhibition will win sympathies of the general public also thanks to the content services for the mobile phone users which we prepared for this project.'
Bessel Kok, co-owner of the CowParade Prague 2004 license commented upon the opening: 'It was a challenge for us to stage such a demanding exhibition. We are proud that cows made it to the streets of Prague and we wish them that all the people in the city will enjoy their presence and will find them amusing. '
